Welcome Back Students!

Welcome back kiddos and parents. I am beyond excited to meet each of you at back to school night, or on the 1st day of school.  As the first day of school approaches please start to get into your new routine.  I know I have to make myself get up extra early, and eat a big breakfast! Below is a list of ideas to consider to help make the transition into a new school year a bit easier for you and your child.

* Start getting to bed a bit earlier, and thus wake up a bit earlier too!

* Prepare for the next day before hitting the sack! Did you pick out your clothes? Pack your lunch and snack?

*Homework will not be coming home for a few weeks, but set aside 20 minutes each night to read. This will help prepare everyone for the nights when you will have to sit down and do homework.

*Have multiple chats about how your child will get to and from school each day, especially the first day. This can cause anxiety in children.  If they worry about forgetting, send in a note to help them remember.

*Ask your child what their favorite part of 1st grade was, or flip through a yearbook remembering old friends. Reflecting on the fun they had last year will help get them excited for what's in store this year!

I look forward to meeting everyone soon! Feel free to email me with questions or concerns at secondgradesnapshot@gmail.com  or my school email, listed on the school website.

All information regarding location of our school and county is to be kept personal on the blog, for the safety of students and teachers!
